The Indian Higher Education system is on the verge of a pathbreaking transformation to cope with the paradigm shift in the teaching learning process that is vital for career opportunities that are ever widening in dimensions. This system is one of the third largest higher educational systems. And the recent feather in its cap- NEP- has scripted a system that makes quality all the more crucial. The overall excellence of higher education is the chief ambitof National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Maintaining consistent quality is a long-term goal; to reach this long-term goal, NAAC has refined its objectives from time to time. The establishment of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) is a major step in achieving quality standards. IQAC in any institution is a significant administrative body responsible for quality initiatives. It is the prime responsibility of IQAC to initiate, plan and supervise various activities essential to increase the quality of the education imparted in institutions and colleges. It aspires to promote and determine quality focussed activities such as seminars, workshops, symposia, conferences, panel discussions, demonstrations, case studies, academic meetings and any such kind of event or programme that promotes unequivocal standards.Thus, the role of IQAC in maintaining quality standards in teaching, learning and evaluation isan all-inclusive system that challenges and discards anything that compromises on quality.
